Day01: luangprabang – tourism sites – Phonsavan (_/L/D)

After breakfast we drive from Luangprang to the East of Laos to Phonsavan, the plains of Jars( world heritage). On the way  we will stop to visit tribal villages of Khmu, Homong, visit Tham phra Cave( Buddhism images Cave).

Arrive in Phonsavan, stay there.


Day02: Phonsavan – Plains of jars – tourism sites – Phonsavan (B/L/D)

After breakfast we visit local  morning market, visit heritage sites( plains of jars, site 2 and site 3), the mysterious jars were carved from both sandstione and granite in various sizes and are thought to be more than 2,000 years old,  located 25 km away from town.

Afternoon we drive to Muang Khoun, 36 km away from Phonsavan, to this place we visit Muang Khoun, the old Phuan Kingdom, visit ancient kingdom of Tai Phuan.

Visit tribal villages of Hmong and Tai Phuan.

Drive back to Phonsavan, stay there.


Day03: Phonsavan – tourism sites – Xamneua (B/L/D)

Drive from Phonsavan to Xamneua( Houaphan province), sightseeing on the way

  • Visit Tham pew, a historical cave, Tham Pew Cave

Tham Pew or the Coffin Cave is a memorial to the hundreds of families who died when, on 24 November 1968, this cave was bombed while they were sheltering there. During the Second Indochina War, it was in this region that planes dropped so many of their bombs. Many hit villages as the craters all around testify, but one found its way to the cave, killing 374 people who were in the cave at the time. Many were families sheltering from the bombing. There is a visitor center here with photographs and stories from the time and even today people come to light incense in memory of those who lost their lives.

  • Visit Tad saleuay waterfall.
  • TAD SALEUY WATERFALL

A short, easy walk on a flat trail from Road 6 leads to this treelined waterfall that drops some 100 meters, as it cascades over rock slabs to a final leap into a relaxing pool and on to a calm stream. A trail alongside the falls takes the adventurous to the top. Vendors on Saleuy Village’s roadside sell locallymade textiles.

  • And visit some villages of Tai Deng Tai Phuan along sides of the road to Xamneua.
  • Arrive in xamneua. Stay there.


Day04: Xamneua – tourism sites – laos leader caves – Xamneua(B/L/D)

Drive for 30 km to visit Hidden city of Muang viengxay, the home of Laos leader’s caves

Vieng Xay caveThese limestone karst cave networks sheltered their headquarters during their struggle with the American-backed Royal Lao Government. In these caves the Pathet Lao established a “Hidden City” which supported around 20,000 people.

On the way back to Xamneua, we visit a village of Tai Deng, famous in making kitchen tool that made from recycled aluminum bombshells. Stay in Xamneua.


Day05: Xamneua – tourism sites – Nong khiaw(B/L/D)

After breakfast we visit morning market in town, visit Wat Ong Tue temple and leave Xamneua for Nong khiaw.

  • Drive to nong Khiaw, sightseeing on the way
  • Visit the biggest hot spring in Muang Vieng thong( Muang Hiam)
  • Visit tourism site of standing stones fields.
  • Visit tribal villages of Khmu, Hmong.
  • Arrive in Nong Khiaw late evening, stay in Nong khiaw.


Day06: Nong khiaw – tourism places –  Muang ngoikao (B/L/D)

Explore Nong khiaw, the amazing landscapes surroundings.

Nong Khiaw is a rustic village in Luang Prabang province, northern Laos. It is located on the Nam Ou River with narrow footpaths winding through the jungle and climbing steep limestone cliffs for sweeping views.

  • Before we head to Muang Ngoikao on boat trip, we have a nice time to climb up to Phou Pha Pherng hill where we can look around from the top of this hill to see the nice view of Nong Khiaw.
  • Drive to visit a historical Cave, visit museum of bomb collected from the war during 1845 to 1974s.
  • Nam Ou boat trip upstream to Muang Ngoikao. Visit some tribal villages along river.
  • Arrive in Muang ngoikao, stay there.


Day07: Nong khiaw – tourism places –  Muang ngoikao (B/L/_)

Today will be longer boat trip upstream from Muang ngoi to Muang khua.

On the way we stop to visit some tribal villages.

  • Visit a tribal village of tai Deng( Sopcham village), a village famous in weaving textile and Lao skirts. Visit tribal village of Kmu, Lao Loum.
  • Arrive in Muang khua late evening. Stay in Muang khua.

Muang khua is a small town locate on Nam our river Bank where Nam Phak and Nam Ou connect.
